Bechamel Sauce

Ingredients

  • butter (equal parts with flour)
  • flour (equal parts with butter)
  • milk
  • nutmeg (whole, freshly grated)
  • salt and white pepper

Method

  1. Combine equal parts butter and flour in saucepan over medium heat. Cook 2 minutes.
  2. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth.
  3. Season with salt, pepper, and freshly grated nutmeg. Cook stirring until thickened.

Tips & Notes

  • Best to use whole nutmeg and add in with a grater.
