Bechamel Sauce

Ingredients

  • Butter
  • Flour
  • Milk
  • Nutmeg (whole, freshly grated)
  • Salt and white pepper

Method

  1. Combine equal parts butter and flour in a saucepan over medium heat and cook for 2 minutes.
  2. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth.
  3. Season with salt, white pepper, and freshly grated nutmeg.
  4. Cook, stirring, until thickened.

Tips & Notes

  • Best to use whole nutmeg and grate it in fresh.
