Beef Burgundy

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 4 carrots
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
  • 1 cup celery, thinly sliced
  • 2 large onions
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon each pepper, marjoram, and thyme
  • 1 cup Burgundy wine
  • 2 1/2 pounds lean stew meat

Method

  1. Blend the soy sauce and flour in a baking pan (Dutch oven).
  2. Cut the meat into 1 1/2-inch cubes and put them in the soy-sauce-and-flour mixture to coat.
  3. Add chunks of carrots and the other ingredients to the meat.
  4. Stir gently. Cover and cook at 325° for 1 hour.
  5. Add the mushrooms and stir again. Cover and bake almost 2 more hours.
  6. Serve with noodles or rice.

Tips & Notes

  • This French recipe for Beef Burgundy always comes out the same, and it's better the second day.

The original
