Beef Burgundy
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 4 carrots
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
- 1 cup celery, thinly sliced
- 2 large onions
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon each: pepper, marjoram, thyme
- 1 cup Burgundy wine
- 2 1/2 pounds lean stew meat
Method
- Blend the soy sauce and flour in a baking pan (Dutch oven).
- Cut the meat into 1 1/2-inch cubes and add to the soy sauce and flour mixture, tossing to coat.
- Add chunks of carrots and the other ingredients (celery, onions, garlic, pepper, marjoram, thyme, and Burgundy wine) to the meat.
- Stir gently. Cover and cook at 325° for 1 hour.
- Add the mushrooms and stir again. Cover and bake for almost 2 more hours.
- Serve with noodles or rice.
Tips & Notes
- This French recipe for Beef Burgundy always comes out the same, and it's better the second day.
