Beef Burgundy

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 4 carrots
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms (optional)
  • 1 cup celery, thinly sliced
  • 2 large onions
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon each: pepper, marjoram, thyme
  • 1 cup Burgundy wine
  • 2 1/2 pounds lean stew meat

Method

  1. Blend the soy sauce and flour in a baking pan (Dutch oven).
  2. Cut the meat into 1 1/2-inch cubes and add to the soy sauce and flour mixture, tossing to coat.
  3. Add chunks of carrots and the other ingredients (celery, onions, garlic, pepper, marjoram, thyme, and Burgundy wine) to the meat.
  4. Stir gently. Cover and cook at 325° for 1 hour.
  5. Add the mushrooms and stir again. Cover and bake for almost 2 more hours.
  6. Serve with noodles or rice.

Tips & Notes

  • This French recipe for Beef Burgundy always comes out the same, and it's better the second day.
