Classic Homemade Waffles

Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 3/4 cups milk
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Method
- Preheat your waffle iron.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. A few small lumps are fine.
- Lightly grease the waffle iron if needed.
- Pour the appropriate amount of batter into the waffle iron and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions, usually 3 to 5 minutes.
- Serve immediately with maple syrup, fresh fruit, whipped cream, or butter.
Tips & Notes
- For extra-crispy waffles: separate the eggs, mix the yolks with the wet ingredients, beat the egg whites to soft peaks, and fold them into the batter just before cooking. Yummy yum yum.
