Strawberry Meringue Forgotten Cake

Ingredients
- 5 egg whites
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
- whipping cream (amount unspecified)
- fresh strawberries (sweetened)
Method
- Beat egg whites, cream of tartar & salt until it holds a peak. Gradually beat in sugar, then beat in vanilla.
- Grease and flour 9" round cake pan (best to use PAM).
- Pour in meringue.
- Place pan in preheated 450° oven and immediately turn off the heat. Leave in oven overnight without opening the door.
- To serve: whip cream, spread on meringue and put in refrig for 3-4 hours. Then put on top sweetened fresh strawberries (or blueberries or raspberries).
Tips & Notes
- Unusually great tasting and makes a beautiful presentation.
- For a bigger amount, use a 9x13 pyrex dish and double recipe.
